Have You Ever Been Punched in the Face by a Parable?

The Good Samaritan

The Sower

And Many More

Sundays following worship in The Crossroads Center and on Zoom

Sundays Following Worship

Although more than a third of Jesus' recorded teaching is in parables, the parables are often misunderstood.  Familiarity with them doesn't mean we understand them!  In this course we'll find ways to see them from new angles, to open new possibilities for our hearing what Jesus originally intended.  The parables are not primarily designed to teach a lesson, but to bring about a response.  They're not meant to pat us on the back, but to give us a punch in the face.  They're not intended to comfort us, but to challenge us and change us.  They call into question the way we understand the world and God's activity in it; they help sweep away our misconceptions.

If you're saying to yourself: "Say what? That's not what I remember about the parables," then maybe you'd better join us as we explore the world of the parables and their meaning for us now.  Let's develop ears to hear, so we can really hear and be changed ourselves. We will be meeting in the Crossroads Center and on Zoom at 10:45 AM on Sundays.
